Holiday travel, part one

We’re on our way north to visit the bf’s family this Christmas. The drive is nice and relaxing, even if it is late. Some sort of calm settles over me in the car, seeing cars with Delaware, Florida, South Carolina, New Mexico, etc. tags - all making what I assume is the trek home for the holiday weekend. A Greyhound bus illuminating a Chicago-bound marquee passes us. We switch the radio back and forth between the Steelers game and music. A full moon casts that blue glow in our car and on the presents piled in the back.

So, this is Christmas with my love. For as unideal as not being around family at Christmas is, this feels great. Then, it helps to know I’ll get to see mom and grandparents in seven days.
